This week’s strategy gaming news includes two new releases, a full launch date for a solo-developed Roman city-builder, an early announcement in the industrial tower defense space, and a pair of items from games still at earlier stages of development.
PlanetForge Protocol Announced

Publisher 2P Games and developer Railstar Games have announced PlanetForge Protocol for Steam, a sci-fi strategy title combining automated industrial base construction with real-time tower defense set on a hostile alien planet. The design framing positions production efficiency as the primary driver of defensive output, with power grid coverage, supply chain stability, and manufacturing rate feeding directly into available firepower. The stated long-term objective is the construction of planetary-scale ring megastructures. The game placed third among 793 entries at the 4th Sci-Fi Planet Awards, judged by a panel that included author Liu Cixin. No release date has been announced. Steam Page
Fortified Space Enters Early Access

Solo developer Nightsail Game Studios has released Fortified Space into Steam Early Access, priced at $3.99. The game combines top-down space combat with planetside tower defense across a series of missions, with players managing orbital engagements before landing to construct and defend surface positions using barriers, turrets, and perimeter tools. The player’s starship includes an explorable interior with asteroid mining, hydroponic farming, and assorted lighter diversions. Nightsail cites classic Flash game design as a reference point. Eastern Era Out Now on Steam

FunYoo Games has launched Eastern Era on Steam at $24.99, with a 10% launch discount currently active. The game casts players as the leader of a declining martial arts sect forced to flee and rebuild from nothing, blending colony simulation, base construction, and real-time combat within a wuxia setting. Disciples can be recruited from the wilderness or from cities, trained in martial skills, and equipped with forged weapons, while the settlement grows structure by structure including walls, arrow towers, and facilities tied to disciple morale and physical condition. Faction relations across the martial world can be navigated through open conflict, alliance-building, or manipulation of rival sects from a distance. Steam Page
Pompeii: The Legacy Targets April 9 Full Release

The solo developer behind Pompeii: The Legacy has confirmed April 9th as the full release date across Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, and several key resellers, following a brief delay from the originally planned April 6th date. The game has been in Early Access for some time and combines Roman city-building with a narrative campaign set across multiple generations of Pompeii’s development. The complete story campaign is due to arrive in an update ahead of the full release, giving players and creators early access to the finished scope of the game before launch. Steam Page
Masters of Albion Behind-the-Scenes Documentary Released

22cans has released a behind-the-scenes documentary for Masters of Albion featuring interviews with Peter Molyneux, Mark Healey, and Russ Shaw, covering the game’s development and the team’s history as collaborators. The film includes previously unseen areas of the game world, new gameplay footage, and candid material from the studio, and was produced in-house ahead of the Early Access release, for which no date has been confirmed. Build It Up! The Holy Roman Empire Opens Steam Page

Solo developer Nik Walz has opened a Steam page for Build It Up! The Holy Roman Empire, a medieval city-builder with integrated real-time strategy and castle siege mechanics, developed in Unreal Engine 5. The game emphasises construction flexibility through individually shapeable farm and production areas and material-based building customisation, with armies raised and battles fought within the same world as the city rather than on a separate layer. A playable demo is in development ahead of Early Access, with no dates announced. Steam Page
